Donation Ideas for the Presidio Hill School 2012 Auction

What items should I get?

We are asking each family to donate or solicit at least THREE auction items. Your participation is key to our auction's success.

Donation Ideas and Suggestions

WINE!!  It always sells well at the silent auction

Restaurant/hotel gift certificates

Gift cards form local businesses/restaurants

• get a gift card donated from a business/restaurant you frequent

• purchase one

• coordinate with other PHS parents to each donate money towards one gift card from a local business/restaurant that has a higher dollar amount

Weekend home or cabin that you could donate for a week or weekend

Host a dinner or cocktail party with a group of friends

Event Tickets (Giants, Warriors, 49ers, symphony, opera, ballet, concert etc.)

Your child’s favorite music, yoga, swim, karate or language teacher could donate a session

Your favorite spas or salons may donate their services

Your favorite restaurant could donate a dinner for two

The grocery store you frequent on a weekly basis.....

Your artwork or do you have a friend who is an artist....

Limousine, airplane, train, and balloon rides

Experiential tours and trips: skiing, whale watching, sailing, oceanic expeditions

Are you, or do you know, a professional contractor, photographer, cabinetmaker, landscaper, decorator, personal trainer, chef, etc.? Donate services for an hour or a day

Host a “PHS Community” party or event

Come up with an idea for a party for adults or kids (margaritas, kids’ tea party, soccer party etc.)

Set the date and sell a fixed number of tickets at the auction

Tickets can either be a fixed price or tickets can be bid on

Friends who come to the auction sign up to buy the tickets on a first-come, first-served basis, and all ticket proceeds go to PHS

The highest bidders or the first bidders win the ticket spots

Who should I ask?

Start with your favorite local businesses. When you’re out dining, shopping, or taking a class, ask merchants if they can donate. When you’re visiting your dentist, auto garage, etc. ask if they would like to run an ad in the auction catalogue.

Download our easy to use auction solicitation letter/email template. Donors can directly fill out their donation information online at https://presidio.ejoinme.org/itemdonation or they can fill out a donation form that can be picked up at the PHS front desk or you can download and print the item donation form.

How do I ask?

Introduce yourself as a parent at PHS. Keep it short and sweet. Ask if they can support the auction by donating (certificate, services, etc.). Explain that donors get premium placement in our auction catalogue and/or our online auction and are bid on by over 200 attendees. Add that all proceeds from the 2012 Presidio Hill School Auction go towards the school’s Tuition Assistance Program and faculty enrichment. Donations are tax deductible.

Where do I take completed donor forms and donated auction items?

Please bring them to the auction drop-off box at the Auction Table in the PHS lobby. For larger and fragile items, please leave them with Martin Gross.
